NicTheAbstract Teaches us How to Rap

I swear they just keep getting younger. We’ve seen Hoodie, Cam Meekins, OCD: Moosh and Twist and now Nic Hanson? He’s straight out of Philly and a sophomore in High School. He produces everything you see and hear in that video so it’s obvious he’s got mad musical talent. Look out for NicTheAbstract, he’s got an EP dropping next week and a mixtape soon after. The kid can spit and his lyrics are straight dope. See also: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yw-gtwlf-zU&feature=related

Salemme wants you to “Meet Me Tonight”

Frankly, I think this song kinda sucks. But I’m posting it entirely because of this video screen shot that was in the email the dude’s promo guy sent:

As you can see, my hand was forced.

OCD: Moosh & Twist are “City Kids”

Have you heard these guys yet? You should have. Remember the (kinda shitty) name… they’ll be big.

Wake up with these celebrities singing “Let it Be”

Now this is a little non-traditional take on the Song of the Day, but bear with me here. Cause watching this video, three things will jump out at you: The background is fantastic, Jason Alexander kills it with his singing and back-up dancing, and whoever the fuck plays Carlton on Fresh Prince of Bel Air steals the fucking show! Dude’s got straight pipes. Also, I think it’s funny they show Pamela Anderson, but she doesn’t sing, nor is she even …

W2FY Presents: Olu, a Name You Will Certainly Be Hearing in the Future

The first time I listened to Olu, his unique, flawless flow and his obvious lyrical talent immediately struck me. Olu was born in Akron, Ohio, and grew up in Strongsville, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland.  “Because I grew up in the suburbs I always got judged and people thought I wouldn’t get anywhere with rap,” said Olu. “They had it wrong though. Living in the suburbs didn’t mean I was wealthy. My family was always broke. School was always a …

Need a new Limewire?

With the recent loss of Limewire (feel free to have a moment of silence), Becks and Kage have been having some trouble finding a source of good music. While there is always the options of youTube or Pandora, we wanted music we could have. We’re materialistic like that. Luckily, we found RCRDLBL by accident and have been frequenting the site since. RCRD LBL is a completely free and completely LEGAL source of music. Essentially, labels put their artists’ music on the site to get …

W2FY does: The Hold Steady

So UpStream, Sconie, and I went to the Hold Steady last night. It was fucking fantastic. Now I’m not saying we drank a ton of half-and-half screwdrivers before the show, or that the venue sold tall boy Narragansetts, but I’m saying that the Hold Steady is probably one of those bands you wanna see drunk. ‘Cause shit gets real, and I mean that in the best way possible. Band absolutely rocked it from start to finish. Notable stand-outs were: Craig …

Watch this: OK Go and some dogs do a music video

Ok, I don’t like OK Go that much. Didn’t watch them at Spring Fling last year, don’t follow their shit. But they make cool music videos. And I like dogs a lot. So I guess this makes the cut.

W2FY Presents: An interview with Hoodie Allen, the rapper you should be talking about

If you haven’t heard already, Hoodie Allen is blowing the fuck up. Like, the kid’s good. He’s putting out a new mixtape “Pep Rally” on Sept. 21 which should be mind boggling. Anyway, DPrep got a chance to talk with the 21-year old Google employee by day, rapper by night, and find some shit out. Check it. I interviewed Hoodie Allen because I believe in his music. It’s a much needed change of pace from the vast majority of bullshit …
