Can you Beat the Streak?

Hit play on the video above… it’s baseball season! Today is opening day of the 2010 season, and again another year full of chances for some lucky hitter to break Joe DiMaggio’s 69 year old hitting streak record. For those of you who don’t know, Joltin’ Joe DiMaggio owns the record for most consecutive games recording a hit. His record stands at 56 straight games. In his honor and because it’s a really good competition, MLB.com has started a game …

The sun is finally shining, it is getting warmer outside and it’s almost time for spring break… what more could I ask for? Potentially the most useful link I have ever posted… how to crack a padlock. [BookofJoe] Two words: “Baseball Nightclub” Three words: “I love it!”. [Deadspin] Have you ever wanted to watch a man get inside a balloon? [Youtube] Tiger Woods will return to golf at the Masters! [Brobible] Spring Breaking at home? [CollegeHumor] Even though March Madness …

Nomar Garciaparra announces his retirement, as a member of the Red Sox

Turn on NESN right now and you’ll see the press conference announcing the Red Sox signing Nomar Garciaparra to a one-day deal. He’ll immediately announce his retirement from baseball. This is a bittersweet moment for me. I fucking loved Nomar. Like straight up idol worship. I did his toe-tap, batting glove thing when I was at the plate in baseball. I picked number five for all my numbers in any sport. My first aol screen name was rdsxltng5–for my initials, …

Nomar to retire? I put up more weight than Dustin Pedroia?

“Nomar Garciaparra is the other remaining free agent; it’s widely expected that he will retire, and while he has not announced that, he has not been linked to any teams this offseason.” –San Francisco Gate This nearly brings me to goddamn tears. As a kid, I idolized Nomar. Did his stupid tapping and batting gloves routine at the plate, got yelled at by countless coaches for throwing like he did, the whole works. Even wore number 5 whenever I got …

Going for the Green? Tim Lincecum wins NL Cy Young

So just weeks after getting busted for toking and driving, Tim Lincecum has won his second NL Cy Young Award. Good for you Tim, good for you. With this, and Michael Phelps’ resounding success, can we please all agree that smoking weed does not hamper athletic dominance? Anyway, Lincecum had a pretty killer season, K’ing 261 batters and posting a 2.48 ERA. Ironically enough, El Guapo struck out with the ladies just that many times last weekend. Better luck next …
