I swear they just keep getting younger. We’ve seen Hoodie, Cam Meekins, OCD: Moosh and Twist and now Nic Hanson? He’s straight out of Philly and a sophomore in High School. He produces everything you see and hear in that video so it’s obvious he’s got mad musical talent. Look out for NicTheAbstract, he’s got an EP dropping next week and a mixtape soon after. The kid can spit and his lyrics are straight dope.

The Daily reports that Tufts admissions for the Class of 2015 are the lowest in school history. That’s pretty cool I guess. Adds to Tufts prestige, makes it seem “more exclusive” (and therefore, way more chill), and all that good stuff.

But here’s another interesting fact from the article: 52% of Tufts students receive finacial aid.

That’s a lot.

Now I don’t have a problem with financial aid — I think you need it to allow people who can’t afford going to college to… well… go to college. But when Tufts is one of the most expensive school’s in the country, and they’re giving out aid to half the kids, doesn’t that mean things might be a little expensive?

I think so.

So here’s a thought: What if Tufts’ cut tuition in half? From $55,000 to $22,500. Ostensibly, this would make a huge difference to a ton of people who need financial aid — they could now pay for college on their own… or at least more of it. That’s good for students because they’re not in so much debt. It’s good for Tufts, because it’s more money in their pocket that wasn’t there before.

I can’t see any downsides to this. But I’m retarded. Someone tell me why this isn’t a good idea.

In just one week, Rebecca Black’s music video “Friday” had racked up over 20 million views on Youtube and moved up to number 25 on iTunes’ top 100. With a rapid ascension from nobody to somebody, Black has been heavily criticized around the world for her lyrics and vocal talent leading many to question whether the teenager deserves all the heat.

The answer is, of course, no. Black’s song Friday is a revolutionary look at the typical weekend excitement we all share and deserves every bit of the quickly surmounting acclaim it gets. Justin Bieber? Black is clearly the better artist and we’ve only even known her for a week. While Baby Biebs has given us lame, cliché lyrics like “she’s indecisive, she can’t decide,” Black, on the other hand, has gifted us with the stunningly accurate and wonderfully prescient, “tomorrow is Saturday, and Sunday comes afterwards.” Even the great Lady Gaga cannot compete with this girl. Hell, she might be the next Etta James.

But, not everyone agrees. In an interview on Good Morning America, Black was asked to recall some of the hateful comments posted on Youtube. “I hope you cut yourself, and I hope you get an eating disorder so you’ll look pretty,” one angry tuber wrote. The resilient Black has overcome this abhorrence though, and maintains she’s not a bad singer… she can even sing the first two lines of the National Anthem all on her own. A spokesperson for Ark Music Factory, the company that produced Black’s video, said they did not have to use any auto-tuning or voice correcting technology at all, which is not surprising given Black’s full, authentic, tone as she repeats her grammatically eloquent phrases such as, “we we we so excited” and “fun fun fun looking forward to the weekend.” I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to the next Rebecca Black hit!
