So we will be having a little bit of live blogging tonight during the AllState Sugar Bowl. We want to thank contributer Seth Rau from Roundtable for his addition to the blog his blogs will be in red. Check out his blog. I will stop blogging at half time. This game is too much of a blow out. The Gators have consistently proved they are the best here tonight.
10:24: And thats the first half. I will be signing off. Go Gators. Be sure to check out Seth’s site for continued blogging.
10:24: The half could not come soon enough. Sturgis did miss a field goal, so it is 30-3 at the half. Props to the Gators and again how did this team lose to Alabama? If Texas beats Alabama, this team should get some #1 votes in the final poll. Despite this horrendous performance, the Bearcats are still about the tenth best team in the country.
10:23: Missed field goal by the Gators. They really should have just gone for it on 4th down. It didn’t matter because this game is a blow out and the Gators start the 2nd half with the ball.
10:22: We already know that Tim Tebow = God, Brian Billick. That story has been told for four years. At least he will be a productive human being in the world.
10:18: This is such a blowout, the Bearcats only have 45 yards tonight, while the Gators have over 361. Also Billick is definitely a Gator fan, he called a Tebow a “man.”
10:18: Why does Florida need to score again before half? The game is already over and the Gators get the ball to start the second half. Show a little bit of respect…
10:16: Can this half (game) be over already?
10:13: Good news Riley Cooper has just flipped his hair 3 times in less then a minute… thank god!
10:11: Tim Tebow is just too good and the Bearcats secondary is just too small and slow. 30-3 Gators.
10:11: The Gators respond quickly with a touchdown by Riley Cooper! He might be the fastest white guy in Florida history (except for Chris Collinsworth). 30-3 Gators!
10:09: Rodgers comes out for a 47 yard field goal and it is good. Now the Bearcats are only down 23-3…
10:08: Field Goal Cincinnati, finally on the board tonight. 23-3
10:06: The Bearcats are finally deep in Florida territory. They need a touchdown so desperately it is not funny
10:02: As bad as Cincinnati has been playing the penalties have just been devastating for them tonight. Another 15 yard personal foul. Apparently both sides of the ball have a lot of trouble with penalties. Also the Gators seem to be having a lot of injuries tonight. Even though it is a blow out the tenacity and toughness really are at an all time high here tonight. Come on refs… let the boys play ball!!
10:01: Even though the Bearcats have started moving the ball, it is baffling how the Bearcats are ranked ahead of the Gators. At least they are not playing for the National Championship
9:56: Brian Billick has informed us he saw some “eye opening things” in New Orleans last night…
9:54: Another Gators touchdown. At this point, I may not even blog the second half. I did not expect Cincy to win, but at least to make it an exciting game. Well the basketball team beat UCONN Wednesday night…
9:53: Another touchdown from the Gators! 23-0! This is definitely out of hand… they let Moody score a rushing touchdown, this is really a joke.
9:51: The 24 commercials are more exciting than the Bearcats right now. This game is the worst case situation turned into reality.
9:49: I am just starting to feel bad for the Bearcats at this point it is just ugly. It isn’t even half time yet and this game is just about over. They are just playing sloppy at this point.
9:48: The Gators Secondary is playing out of this world. How did Alabama score 32 points against these guys? Oh wait, they could run the ball.
9:46: Just like the 4 INT Orange Bowl, Tony Pike is not showing up for another bowl game.
9:42: Give it to the Gators. That was one heck of a touchdown catch by Thomas. PAT is good giving the Gators a 16-0 lead
9:41: TOUCHDOWN gators!!! Tebow throws a nice pass into the back corner of the end-zone. PAT is good. 16-0 Gators. This is quickly turning south for the Bearcats
9:40: The Bearcats could really use a turnover here. Even 3 points would be a troubling sign
9:35: Gators go for it on fourth and Tebow barely gets the first. No way the Bearcats were going to be able to stop Tebow. At least the homer, Thom, said it right way.
9:35: Nice stop by the Bearcats but the Gators are going for it on 4th down. QB sneak and Tebow converts on 4th!
9:32: Another player listening to my advice. Showing his true speed. The Gator offense is just making the Bearcats look like a bunch of high schoolers.
9:31: Lance Stephanson is nothing compared to Donald Little who actually killed a girl.
9:30: At least the Bearcats got a 59 yard punt. The Bearcats decline an offside penalty, because they probably could not duplicate that punt.
9:28: The Bearcats will take any players regardless of SAT scores, intelligence, character issues. At least it is not as bad for the football team as it has for the basketball team. (Lance Stephenson isn’t exactly a class act!)
9:27: The Bearcats offense looks like a joke. The offensive line is playing their hearts out, but the Gators size and speed advantage seems to be overwhelming. At least it is only 9-0 at the end of the first.
9:26: Nice sack by the Gators. The Bearcats go 3 and out. Also it appears Brandon Spikes chose Florida simply because Tim Tebow committed… is that a good reason to pick a University?
9:24: They must be reading my blog, much better coverage by the Gators.
9:22: The Bearcats fans finally come to life. Gators get into Caleb Sturgis range for a 40 yard field goal. Kick goes inside the left upright giving the Gators a 9-0 lead.
9:22: Crucial 3rd down conversion for the Gators. Unsuccessful, they are going to have to settle for a field goal. 9-0 Gators
9:18: The Gators are catching everything. Whenever there appears to be a crack of hope for the Bearcats, it fades away.
9:17: USC transfer Moody just has no wheels. Runs right up the middle for no yards. Tebow just seems to be passing right into the Bearcat secondary. Where is that Cincinnati defense?
9:13: A little too early to go for it on fourth, but a very disappointing stop after 2nd and 2.
9:11: Nice return by Marty Gilyard. The gators better keep better coverage for future punt and kick offs.
9:11: That is the Mardy Gilyard most Bearcats fans know.
9:09: The Gators offense is just playing around with the Bearcats defense. Now it is Tony Pike’s time to come up with an answer. If he does not, then this game could get ugly fast.
9:07: Gators finally score on a Tebow to Hernandez pass, but the play was reviewed. It was confirmed upon review giving the Gators a 6-0 lead. Blocked PAT!
9:06: TOUCHDOWN!! Pass complete to Hernandez. Tebow is awesome. PAT is blocked…
9:04: Hope the injury to Demps is not too serious. Reminds me a bit of the injury to Willis McGahee during the 2002 Miami/Ohio State BCS National Championship Game.
9:02: Did I hear a whistle? That was a strange play that helped Tebow.
9:02: Tebow is unstoppable! Go Tebow GO!! There was a whistle somewhere and it sort of seems like the defense just stopped.
9:01: Bearcats are very lucky not to get a flag for the extra hit after the Tebow sack.
9:00: Big sack by the Bearcats 2nd down. It’s going to be 3rd and 9 now.
8:59: The Bearcats tackling is pathetic and it has been for the past four games.
8:57: Another penalty, facemask. But it was redacted. Definitely should’ve been a penalty on the BearCats
8:55: Tebow’s quote for today is “For through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father. 19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God.” It seems to be working quite well so far as the Gators get a first down.
8:55: Pass completed to Riley Cooper who is deciding whether or not to pursue a football or a baseball career after he graduates this spring. Interesting side story is Marquis Pouncey spent 5 hours in a hospital last night with kidney stones… ouch!
8:52: Big stop by Florida after starting at 1st and 20. Gators will start from their own 15. Now its Tebow time.
8:51: Punt by the Bearcats so Tim Tebow and company will take the field after the commercial break.
8:49: Bearcats start off two completions and a 15 yard personal foul on the Gators. The Bearcats will have to keep running these sets with four or five wide outs to make sure the offense keeps moving.
8:49: We already have had 2 penalty flags, hopefully the referees will let up and the guys play. Pass by Pike should have been intercepted.
8:46: Another interesting plot line is that Florida Coach Urban Meyer played football at Cincinnati. Both Mayer and his wife are UC alums, and his sister is on the Board of Trustees.
8:45: Urban says it’s all about practice and the gators have been like AI likes to say ready at “practice”
8:43: As a 24 fan, I love that Dennis Haybert is doing the coin toss. Florida wins the toss and defers to the second half. The Bearcats will receive and they need to get on the scoreboard quickly.
8:41: Preview for Our Little Genius, a new show on Fox looks awesome. What could be better than a child showing up college educated adults?
8:41: It is amazing how biased all of the local commercials are for Cincinnati. Every single local business must have taken out an ad to wish the Bearcats good luck. Well they are going to need a little help on defense tonight.
8:37: Offensive Coordinator Jeff Quinn will be coaching the Bearcats tonight for the first and last time tonight since Brian Kelly has taken the job at Notre Dame. Quinn will take the head coaching job at Buffalo tomorrow, and Central Michigan Coach Butch Jones has been hired as the next Bearcats head coach.
8:37: Hereeeeee come the Gators! They look fired up and ready to prove that the SEC championship game is just a fluke. However, the Bearcats want to prove that they are more than their coach who has agreed to a head coaching position at Notre Dame.
8:34: I think the US flag in that shape is fairly cool, and they did a bunch after 9/11. The keys for Cincy today have to be the following.
1. Turn the Game into a Shootout:
The Cincy Offense can score with anyone, but Florida’s defense is far better than anyone the Bearcats have seen this season.
2. Control Special Teams:
Mardy Gilyard has saved the Bearcats at multiple points this season on kick and punt returns, and they will need another big performance from him and the kicking and punting game tonight.
It should be a fun game!
8:30: All Florida has to do is stay focused. I think they will have a lot of emotion as this is super-star Tim Tebow’s last game ever as a Gator and this is Urban Meyer’s last game before he takes a leave of absence from the university for health related reasons. They have a group I have never heard of singing a nice rendition of the national anthem. They also have a US shaped flag… is that kosher?
8:26: Thankfully Fox and Time Warner decided to keep the network on. They have been in a contract dispute for a while now and there was speculation that Fox and all of its affiliate networks would black out at midnight on January 1st. The FCC have stepped forward and asked them to keep the channels on until an agreement has been reached.
