Frankly, I feel like it was just yesterday that my computer was going to explode, because of Y2K, and the controversial election of 2000 was upon us. It’s hard to believe that it has been 10 years. But come to think about it, I have now lived through 2 complete decades which I believe is an accomplishment in itself. So I have been reading a lot of articles that are looking back over the past 10 years and recapping and remembering all the crazy shit that happened. So I wanted to give all of you some of my favorite memories of the past 10 years:
The Florida election disaster of 2000, this was my home state and it was just plain embarrassing, never have I cared so much about hanging chads
the creation of iPod, truly revolutionary, I just can’t see myself walking around with my walkman and CD’s anymore
The Patriot act, now the government can legally listen in on my thrilling phone conversations
The Anthrax scare, so I become terrified to open the mail… who didnt?
The Harry Potter movies, they gave me another way to obsess over the boy wizard, the movies still coming and I keep going to the theater
American idol, because the world didn’t need just Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, and all the other winners who really have made it big, it needed William Huang and every other audition that made us laugh and awkwardly wiggle in our seat out of shear embarrassment
The overthrow of Saddam Hussein, watching that statue fall made me so damn proud to be an American
Martha Stewart went to prison, I never really was sure what she did but once again I was never more proud to be an American
The Madonna-Britney kiss, I almost jizzed my pants instantly
The wardrobe malfunction with Justin and Janet when her breast and nipple piercing was exposed to the entire world during the Super Bowl half time show, I almost jizzed my pants, again
Facebook which truly did complete my life, never again will I need to wonder what my old high school friends are up to because I can just check out their facebook pages
Steroid use in baseball was discussed on Capitol Hill, while disappointing for me as a baseball fan to see some of my heros admit to performance enhancing drugs, it was sort of cool to see the truth finally come out
Youtube, it is here to stay and I can watch videos of anyone from anywhere doing anything
Pluto loses the title of planet, How can I remember all the planets in order if I don’t know what mother just served us nine of?
Borat, and Bruno and all the other impersonations the Sasha Baren Cohen did
Phelps wins 8 gold medals and finally makes swimming popular
Sarah Palin is chosen as the VP candidate, probably only because she was a female and the world quickly realizes that she just isn’t that intelligent
Obama wins the election!
and most recently, Swine flu takes over the country, thankfully I didn’t get that shit
