Pacco goes to town on Floridian renewable energy plans

Florida wants to have ocean turbines for electric power.  Great, good for you guys.  But your state should be careful who they let talk to the press, take this gem for instance:

“If you can take an engine and put it on the back of a boat or propel a ship through water, why not take a look at the strength of the Gulf Stream and determine if that can actually turn a device and create energy?” asked Sue Skemp, executive director at Florida Atlantic University’s Center for Ocean Energy Technology.

Does that quote make any sense?  At ALL?  Let’s take a look at her argument:

  • A.  Boats, powered by gasoline, use propellers to turn water and push themselves forward.
  • B.  Magic.
  • C.  Water will power propellers instead of gasoline.

Thanks Sue Skemp, the only thing worse than your last name is your reasoning.

Hey Sue, I got an idea, maybe we can start using asphalt as a renewable energy source.  If you can take an engine, and put it in the front of your car and turn a wheel on asphalt, why not take a look at the strength of route 95 and determine if that can actually turn a tire and CREATE energy?

(Editor’s Note: Florida’s fucking great, though I cannot vouch for the intelligence of those representing it. Except for me… and maybe Rumproast.)
