W2FY Recommends: The Carter Documentary

It’s been awhile since we’ve done one of these, but we at W2FY can recommend with 100% conviction that The Carter is the most fascinating documentary we’ve seen recently. Movie follows Lil Wayne around for (what I can only guess) is the weeks preceding and following the release of The Carter III. It shows a real up close and personal look at Lil Wayne, both sober and fucked up, at his best, and his absolute worst. If you’re a fan at all of Weezy’s shit, or rap, hell, even music in general, rent the movie and watch it.

In the hour and a half or so, you get a look into the mind of the best rapper alive, what makes him tick, the sheer ridiculousness of the life he leads. It’s fascinating, to say the least, to watch a high-as-balls Wayne wax poetically about what he’d do as president (“put the cocaine back in coke,” “get rid of child support”), and watch him (constantly) record and rerecord music. As Wayne pretty quickly stopped giving interviews, the producers use his lyrics to give a look into the mind of the rapper–reading his lyrics on screen is pretty fucking mind blowing.

Anyway, after the jump we’ve got the first ten minutes of the documentary, make sure you check that out, and let us know what you think in the comments. You can read more at the official website here.
